The Wolf Pack took home the victory in a thriller on Friday night. There was a lot to take away from this Week 1 matchup for Purdue football.

Brandon Talton nailed a 56-yard field goal as time expired to give Nevada the win against Purdue on Friday Night.

This young season has already had its fair share of enthralling contests, but this comeback may have eclipsed them all. What’d we learn from the last-second heart-break for Purdue?

3. This is a resilient pack of Wolves

At halftime, the script for this game appeared to be written. The Wolf Pack trailed Purdue 24-7 at the half, and Nevada had no answer for Elijah Sindelar and Rondale Moore. A Toa Taua touchdown run and and an Elijah Cooks scoring reception brought the game level, and after a late Purdue interception, Carson Strong and the Wolfpack had a chance to win the game.

The offense didn’t necessarily get into makable field goal range, but that didn’t matter to Talton. He was iced initially, and the practice attempt wasn’t pretty, but he got the job done when it mattered.

From 56 yards out, Talton hit the ball as well as one could hope for, and Jay Norvell’s team starts the year with one in the win column.
