2. Elijah Sindelar was hot and cold

Purdue quarterback Elijah Sindelar had a tremendous Friday night. When it was all said and done, he threw for 423 yards and four touchdowns. He completed passes to eight different Boilers, and each of those four touchdowns was thrown to a different pass-catcher.

While those numbers are fantastic, they didn’t come without problems. 319 of those yards came in the first half, meaning he certainly slowed down as Nevada made their comeback. He also threw two interceptions, including one with 38 seconds remaining. It was that pick that allowed Nevada to get one more chance, which would culminate with that Brandon Talton field goal.

Sindelar wasn’t alone in this inconsistency. The Boilers turned the ball over a total of five times, with the other three coming by way of lost fumbles.

For the Boilers, most of this performance was positive. However, Sindelar and this offense couldn’t get the job done in crunch time, and that will be a frustrating fact for Purdue fans to sit with for the next week.
