Oklahoma football cruised to victory over the Houston Cougars. However, it was Jalen Hurts’ first game dominance that stole the show.

The storylines entering this game were simple, yet incredibly interesting. For the Oklahoma Sooners, all eyes were on Jalen Hurts and how well he would be incorporated into Lincoln Riley’s offense. The Houston Cougars, on the other hand, came into the game ready to see how new head coach, Dana Holgorsen, would utilize the explosiveness of D’Eriq King and the rest of the offense.

After a three-and-out on the Cougars’ first drive of the game, Oklahoma got off to a quick start. It only took three plays for Jalen Hurts to lead the Sooners 61 yards down the field for their first touchdown of the game.

Oklahoma jumped out early with a 21-0 lead, but by the end of the first half, the Cougars battled back to bring the score to 21-10. As the second half kicked off, the Sooners’ dominance continued.

Houston scored at the end of the game, which made the game seem closer than it was. In the end, Oklahoma came out on top, 49-31.

Let’s take a look at some of the bigger impacts from this game.
