College football’s opening weekend is in the books and some top players have separated themselves. Which quarterbacks had the best performances?

Week 1 was your definition of college football at its finest as there were several upsets, close games with FCS opponents and, in some instances, complete craziness with unpredictability all over the place.

With the craziness of Week 1, there was some impressive quarterback play, as well as quarterback play that will want to be forgotten.

These performances are not in any way a ranking of the quarterbacks. This list is simply ranking the top five performances from the week. There are several factors that go into the list such as the opponent, outcome of the game but most importantly how the quarterback actually played.

Stats of course go a long way, but we like to look at the film and see how it was they put up those numbers. If Quarterback A had three touchdowns that were all downfield throws or put into a small window, that would have more weight than if Quarterback B had four touchdowns all on screens or shuffle passes. The only requirement to make the list is that the quarterback’s opponent is not an FCS foe.

It doesn’t matter if it is a quarterback from the Power Five, Group of Five or Independents, we will do our best to put the top five performances of the Week 1 here.
