In Week 1 of the 2019 college football season, we some pretty bad losses. Let’s take a look at which of these made our list.

One of my favorite weekly articles that I wrote last year was the review of the three(or so) worst losses from the previous weekend of college football. Well, college football is back! Even in our very first set of games college football matchups, we saw a handful of bad losses.

But first, let’s define what is considered to be “bad” or rather we will explain the variety of ways in which a loss was bad.

First, a loss can be bad because it was heartbreaking. However, the vast majority of the time these games will be considered good wins for the team that came out on top.

Next, a loss can be bad by the margin of victory be so significant that the losing team should feel embarrassed and probably shouldn’t have even been on the field in the first place.

And lastly, a loss can be bad if they losing team was the clear favorite heading into the game.

Naturally, any mix or combination of this criteria would also constitute a bad loss. Conveniently, we saw an example of each these individual ways in which a loss can be bad in Week 1 of college football.
