Scouting Report. Oklahoma. player. Pick Analysis. WR. CeeDee Lamb. 9. 31

The Giants have gone offense with their first pick each of the last three years and I was going to buck that trend in this mock until Alabama’s linebacker Dylan Moses became injured and will now miss the entire season. Moses would fit so well on this team’s defense and would be an A+ pick. I still think Moses will get drafted fairly high, just not in the top ten.

Instead, the Giants are going out and getting one of the best receivers in the draft. CeeDee Lamb is a beast and capable of becoming a true number one receiver in the NFL. He has great hands and can go up and get it like the best of them. Think of DeAndre Hopkins and the highlights you see of the ridiculous contested catch he makes. That’s Lamb’s ceiling.

Could the Giants use defense here in place of Moses? Sure. But I’m not sure if another player would be as attractive for them given the way the current regime has drafted so far. Saquon Barkley was on the board two years ago and the Giants took him because they thought he was the best player out there. Lamb is not quite Barkley levels of great (yet) but he might be attractive enough for the Giants to continue bolstering the offense for young quarterback Daniel Jones.

So what’s more attractive to Giants fans, an elite offense, assuming Jones and Lamb pan out, or a more balanced team with the addition of a defender here in the first round? The Giants value talent and Lamb is talented enough to make them think about it.
