2020 NFL Mock Draft: First round projections after Week 1
Speaking of players I feel comfortable slotting high in a mock, right around the top three is the floor of where Chase Young should go next spring.
The Bills already have their quarterback in Josh Allen so they’ll be looking to take the best talent available, which should be Young. Last year, when Nick Bosa left the Buckeyes, there was some concern about the pass rush. That concern didn’t last long, though. Young more than held his own and was the leading pass rusher for the Buckeyes. He should do it again this year.
This one should be easy for Buffalo. They could go in any direction as a team that might be desperate to make a splash, but the pick last season of Ed Oliver signals to me that they are aware of needs. Besides getting a passer, getting to the passer is what’s important in this league. Teams passing on Young should only be doing it to get a guy they believe to be a franchise quarterback.
Still, there may be a team that takes Young over one of these other quarterbacks early in the draft because he’s just simply that good. Ohio State will be in the spotlight as one of the best teams in the country so the top pick overall is still in play for Young. The Bills would be hitting a home run with this pick.
