Jalen Hurts and Oklahoma football didn’t miss a beat against Houston on Monday. Let’s completely overreact to the dominating win.

Can Lincoln Riley make yet another quarterback a Heisman winner? Jalen Hurts showed quite a bit of promise pointing that way in the 49-31 win on Sunday against the Houston Cougars. Of course, it helps that Houston isn’t known for defense and Oklahoma is known for their high-powered offensive attack.

All that being said, though, we saw quite a bit of growth throughout this game from a season ago. Overall, it’s the perfect climate to do what college football fans do best: Overreact.

Let’s get to it, y’all.

3. Oklahoma is clearly the team to beat in the Big 12

In terms of conference strength, the Big 12 isn’t very high and that is being nice. There are a couple of strong programs within the conference, but there are more lesser programs than there are competitors for sure. I don’t anticipate many programs really challenging the Sooners for the top spot in the Big 12 this year and they will simply win the conference title and compete for that third or fourth spot in the College Football Playoff again.

Yes, Longhorns fans, I know you think that you’re going to win the Big 12 this year and I will continue to let you believe that, but honestly, this is Oklahoma’s conference to lose.

Expect the Red River Showdown to be the decider once again this year, but I’ve got the Sooners far and away.
