2. Jalen Hurts will be a Heisman finalist, at the very least

All eyes are on Tua Tagovailoa over in Tuscaloosa or Trevor Lawrence at Clemson right about now when it comes to Heisman talk, but Jalen Hurts put the world on notice with his performance against Houston on Sunday night.

Lawrence was sub-par at best against Georgia Tech, bailed out by an excellent running back and it took Tua a minute to get going, but he and the Tide expectedly rolled to victory against Duke. But Hurts? He was a game-changer for Oklahoma and was easily the best player on the field and likely in the nation in Week 1.

Hurts finished 20-of-23 for 332 yards and three touchdowns. Oh yeah, and he added 176 yards on the ground and three more rushing scores. All in all, he was responsible for six touchdowns. Yes, it’s against Houston and they have one of the worst defenses in the league, so they were expected to put up some serious points, but this performance was gutsy and strong.

Lincoln Riley has shown he knows what to do with a talented quarterback and Hurts will be his third in a row to, at the very least, be a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, if not his third straight winner.
