SEC Football Power Rankings, Week 1: Can anyone catch Alabama?
The Wildcats scored a victory over Toledo on Saturday, 38-24. Terry Wilson had a solid night throwing the ball, but it was running back Kavosiey Smoke who had his breakout performance. Smoke had 78 yards on only seven carries, and the highlight of the game was his 40-yard touchdown run.
The Toledo rushing attack also had a great night. They consistently gashed the Wildcats, going for 181 yards and three scores. Kentucky is going to face several more potent attacks as the season continues, so this defense is going to have to improve quickly.
The Bulldogs defeated Louisiana by a score of 38-28, but the score doesn’t quite represent the game. The Ragin’ Cajuns scored two fourth quarter touchdowns, but Joe Moorhead’s team maintained a commanding lead for most of the game.
Tommy Stevens was solid in his first start, but it was running back Kylin Hill that had the standout performance. He had 197 rushing yards against Louisiana, and punctuated it with a 20-yard touchdown score.
