2. Zack Moss is the Pac-12’s best running back

Yes, Zack Moss is back for his senior season and yes, he’s one of the best running backs the Pac-12 has to offer, but let’s pump the breaks on any chatter about him being the league’s No. 1 rusher.

As a sophomore he broke the 1,000-yard mark and did so against as a junior before he was injured and now he’s already on a good pace to reach that goal for the third straight season. Against Utah, he had 187 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries which was good for 6.4 yards per touch and this was against a pretty good run defense of BYU from a year ago.

But we can’t be so quick to dub him the league’s best back when there are guys like Eno Benjamin, Jermar Jefferson, JJ Taylor, Joshua Kelley and CJ Verdell out there. He’s probably a top-three back in the Pac-12 with a chance to take that No. 1 spot, but one game doesn’t prove that.

Moss has the talent to be a 1,000-yard rusher again and he has the team around him to lead him there and potentially even lead the Pac-12 in rushing, but he has a long way to go.
