Week 1 of the season saw every Big Ten football team in action. While there were some major blowouts, some teams performances raised questions.
It was a boring first week of Big Ten Football as 12 of the 14 games ended with a point differential in the double-digits. But it was a successful opening week as the Big Ten went 10-2, with Northwestern and Purdue dropping nail biters.
Two teams, Maryland and Penn State, each scored 79 points, and in addition to their high scoring, the Terrapins were also one of two teams to allow zero points with the other being Wisconsin.
Week 2 could see the same results but this is the week where things could get interesting. Several teams could find themselves in a dog fight and the first conference game takes place between Iowa and Rutgers.
It’s still early but the Big Ten is showing early sign of being a top heavy conference in 2019. Big weeks from Purdue, Minnesota and Maryland could shift that narrative but it still seems to be heading in that direction.
Regardless of how you felt post-Week 1, college football is back and Big Ten football is back. Let’s take a look at the Week 1 Big Ten power rankings.
