West Virginia football won its first game of the 2019 season, but it’ll need to do these three things to secure win No. 2 against the Missouri Tigers.

The Neal Brown era in Morgantown got off to a solid start against James Madison, pulling out a 20-13 victory over the visiting Dukes. The Mountaineers weren’t world-beaters, though, but they did just enough to eke out the win.

And although they’re traveling into hostile SEC-territory for their second game, Mountaineer fans should be confident. After all, the Tigers dropped their season-opener to the Wyoming Cowboys, 37-31. Imagine that, an SEC team playing a cupcake in the non-conference and losing. Wait, that’s exactly what happened to Ole Miss and Tennessee, too. But I digress.

West Virginia has their own issues to work out before worrying about their next opponent, though. What can Neal Brown do to get Austin Kendall going early in the game? Will the offensive line protect their signal-caller better? Will they be able to actually run the football? What about their defense? For a unit that had five sacks, the defensive line sure looked rough early on maintaining their gaps and stopping the run.

The James Madison victory is in the rearview mirror and the ‘Eers are speeding toward Columbia to take on Missouri. What are the three biggest keys for WVU to secure their second win of the season?
