In one of the more exciting yet less talked about SEC matchups of the year, Arkansas football takes on Ole Miss in Week 2. Here’s what you need to know.

Neither of these teams is going anywhere in the SEC West this season, we all know that to be fact. However, this game is always exciting and down to the wire in the battle of mediocrity and disappointment.

Arkansas struggled with Portland State in the opener, playing two quarterbacks and neither looked all that great. On the same token though, Ole Miss looked lost on the offensive side of the ball, despite playing decent defense to hold Memphis to 15 total points.

Now, the two teams without an offensive identity face off in what could be an extremely exciting game.

Here’s everything you need to know about the matchup:

Keys to Victory

For Ole Miss, the defense has to keep playing the same way they played against Memphis. The vaunted Memphis offense was all but shut down against Ole Miss and that is a pretty big deal for a team that, for lack of a better term, stunk on the defensive side of the ball a year ago. If they can do that, they have a chance because Arkansas looked horrid on the offensive side of the ball.

Arkansas is going to have to get their offense going and it will start with running back Rakeem Boyd. Their defense played relatively well, generating six sacks. They will have to take advantage of a less than stellar offensive line fielded by Ole Miss to find their way to victory in this one.

Prediction

Many people have Ole Miss winning in this one, but with the trainwreck of an offense that they put on the field in Week 1 against Memphis, I just can’t see that happening. Arkansas’ offense wasn’t great, but they established a run game and were able to score touchdowns which is always good. Look for the Razorbacks to get into the backfield early and often in a winner against the Rebels.

Final Score: Arkansas 21, Ole Miss 17
