LSU football can make early statement in playoff race vs. Texas
By Shelbie Warr
In the game of the week, Texas hosts LSU football in what may just shake out to be a playoff elimination contest. Here is all you need to know.
This is the game everyone is waiting for this weekend, the one that the media can’t stop talking about and that fans have been talking trash about for months: The LSU Tigers versus the Texas Longhorns.
Both teams cruised to victory in Week 1, but this one won’t be near as easy for either side.
This one will show if the Longhorns are actually for real or not and the same for the LSU Tigers. The winner of this game is still alive in the race for the playoff, while the other is quite basically out for the count.
Here is how you can watch this one:

Keys to Victory
For both teams, it will be shutting down the opposing team’s offense. Both teams are extremely talented across the board and are working to replace what they lost to the NFL Draft a year ago. It would seem that the Tigers have the upper-hand in shut-down defense and with the lack of running back depth that the Longhorns are currently dealing with, things could get dicey for Texas in a hurry.
However, both Sam Ehlinger and Joe Burrow showed up and showed out in Week 1. Both guys are talented quarterbacks capable of putting their team on their back and carrying them to victory, so it’ll come down to supporting casts on both sides of the ball to decide who is going to win this one.
Prediction
Texas has a talented team this year, but they just don’t have the defense to back up their offensive attack and they are extremely thin at running back at the moment. Texas will come out hot, ready to fight from the start, but that will wear off as the game ticks on. Expect it to be close, because what else would you expect from an Ed Orgeron-coached team that has managed to recently have close games with Arkansas. That being said, this is the Tigers’ game to lose and I firmly believe that.
Final Score: LSU 27, Texas 24
