Missouri football will host West Virginia for a Power Five non-conference battle in Week 2 and the Tigers are looking to bounce back from a Week 1 loss.
Last Saturday in Wyoming, Missouri suffered a terrible loss that seemed to derail their hopes of a magical season. Kelly Bryant’s arrival and the progression of their defensive unit were supposed to give them the boost needed to make the next step into the upper echelon of the SEC.
A sub-par performance by Bryant and a defensive performance that gave up more point to Wyoming than anyone on their schedule last year. They are looking to bounce back at home this week against West Virginia.
The loss of Will Greer to the NFL certainly showed a lack of offensive production by the Mountaineers last week as they narrowly escaped James Madison University in what most would call a bore-fest.
3. Kelly Bryant rushes for 100 yards
Kelly Bryant took some negative criticism for Missouri’s loss in large part due to his turnovers. When it seemed like the Tigers were going to start to pull away, he fumbled on a designed run. He also tried to force a ball into a tight space and threw an interception in the end zone.
Bryant only ran for 20 yards in last week’s game. I think that Barry Odom is going to completely open the designed run playbook for Kelly Bryant. He knows that Bryant feels more comfortable when he can utilize his athleticism to move the team down the field.
Bold prediction No. 1 is that Bryant rushes for 100-plus yards against the West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday night.
