The first real test for Texas A&M football comes in Week 2, and the Aggies have a chance to upset Clemson. Why might they pull it off?
With one week of college football in the books, the puzzle that is the regular season just took one step closer to being filled. However, there are still plenty of games left this season, and one of the best of them all happens in Week 2. This Saturday, Texas A&M football will be traveling to face Clemson, the top team in the country.
This is a familiar foe for A&M. Last season, the Aggies hosted Clemson and almost pulled off the upset. However, they will now have to face Trevor Lawrence for four entire quarters. However, that’s not their only concern on offense. Their rush defense is charged with stopping Travis Etienne, one of the two best running backs in all of college football. They also have to stop the duo of Justyn Ross and Tee Higgins at wide receiver.
However, Texas A&M has some weapons of their own. Their star on offense is Kellen Mond at quarterback. Many have him as the third-best quarterback in the SEC, but he will have to play like the best if he wants to win this game.
Neither of these teams played a tough opponent in their season opener, so this is truly their first true tests. No matter what the result is, this will likely go a long way in determining how the 2019 college football season goes.
Despite how daunting the task in front of them, I believe Texas A&M has a great chance to upset the Tigers this week. Here’s why I think they can do it.
