2. Adrian Martinez was much better despite loss

Last week, the performance of Adrian Martinez was highly disappointing. After a ton of offseason hype, the quarterback wasn’t very sharp in the season opener against South Alabama. He was much better on Saturday.

As mentioned earlier, he was as hot as could be in the first half. He didn’t throw an incompletion before the half, and found the endzone both through the air and on the ground.

He didn’t drop off much in the second. Once again, he found the end zone with both his arm and legs. As Colorado’s offense heated up and caught up, Martinez continued to answer in a back-and-forth fourth quarter.

Where last week, the Husker defense was the unit that kept the team in front, it was Martinez and the offense that carried Nebraska late in this game.

Eventually, the momentum of Colorado was too much, but this was an encouraging improvement from the Husker quarterback.
