With an early bye week on our hands, here’s a look at five bold predictions for Notre Dame football as they continue through the month of September.

While the Irish nearly covered a point spread just under 20, most fans weren’t satisfied with the team’s 35-17 road win over Louisville. While that score looks decent, there were certainly reasons for the Irish to walk away feeling as if they had left some points out on the field vs. the Cardinals. Perhaps the most confusing part of it all was how many mistakes came from Irish veterans.

Julian Okwara and Khalid Kareem, who form one of the top pass rushing duos in the nation, were both called for offsides penalties on critical third down plays. Asmar Bilal didn’t look completely comfortable at his new linebacker position. Perhaps most noteworthy of all, quarterback Ian Book looked exceptionally antsy in the pocket against a team that went 2-10 the previous season.

Needless to say, there are a few areas that need addressing. In the Irish’s defense, this was a season opener in a surprisingly hostile environment. However, this kind of performance won’t get the job done against Georgia, a matchup that is quickly approaching.

With plenty of more action in the coming weeks, here are five bold predictions for Notre Dame in the month of September.
