Purdue football stepped up and got the win against Vanderbilt by a score of 42-24, bouncing back from a heart-breaking Week 1 loss.

This was a huge game for both Purdue and Vanderbilt as both of them were coming off of Week 1 losses. Purdue was able to have a huge game on offense and Vanderbilt just couldn’t keep up with the Boilermakers attack.

What’d we learn about the Boilermakers in the win?

3. Elijah Sindelar threw all over Vandy and it had no answer

Quarterback Elijah Sindelar had a field day throwing the ball against a Vanderbilt defense that had no answer to defend him. He threw for over 500 yards against Vanderbilt after throwing for over 400 yards last week against Nevada.

Vanderbilt’s offense did enough to keep them in the game despite stalling at times, but the defense of Vanderbilt could not get a stop. There were several big third down conversions that Purdue kept converting, but it wasn’t those conversions that killed the Commodores. It was the big plays that Sindelar had down field, several times to their star receiver Rondale Moore who we will touch on next.

This was a good bounce-back performance from Sindelar, however, he did get injured at the end of the game so we hope it’s nothing serious and he is back out for Purdue.

Vanderbilt, on the other hand, could be in for a long season if its defense doesn’t make some changes.
