Auburn football came away with a 24-6 win against the Tulane Green Wave at home. Here are three takeaways from the game.

It wasn’t pretty, but Auburn came away with a 24-6 win over Tulane in Week 2. It was somewhat expected after such an emotional win like the Tigers had over Oregon in Week 1.

However, there may be some concerns about the hangover that are creeping through the fanbase.

What’d we learn from the sluggish win?

3. Auburn was hungover from the Oregon game

Anytime you have an emotional win like the one the Auburn Tigers had last week against the Oregon Ducks, you are going to experience an emotional let down the following week; especially when the game is against the Tulane Green Wave. No disrespect to the men from New Orleans, but the game was on ESPN 2, not ABC prime time. The Tigers looked sluggish, and really just survived this game.

2. Auburn’s defensive line is really good

Not only did the Tiger’s defensive line harass Tulane starting quarterback Justin McMillan all game long, their run game never got going either. they ran for 120 yards, but starting running back Darius Bradwell ran for only 2.5 yards per carry. The Tigers defensive line stonewalled the Tulane offensive line all night long. Most importantly, the Green Waves couldn’t sustain drives.

1. Bo Nix is still playing like a freshman

Bo Nix played against Auburn almost exactly the way he played against Oregon. He bumbled all over himself in first half, then figured it out in the second. What made him a “hero” was the last second pass. Nix is a really good prospect, but he’s still a freshman. Give him some time to sort things out and he’ll be fine. He made “freshman” mistakes in every way possible. But man that kid can play when he wants.
