LSU Football: 3 takeaways from statement win over Texas in Week 2
By Dante Pryor
2. Both quarterbacks were impressive
Games like this one you hope the stars shine. Both LSU starting quarterback Joe Burrow and Texas gunslinger Sam Ehlinger were great in this top-10 battle. In fact, Burrow went 31-for-39 with 471 yards and four touchdowns and Ehilnger had 461 total yards and five scores.
The Longhorns were thin at running back having their third-string quarterback and a newly-converted linebacker as their third-stringer. Ehlinger knew he would have to run a lot in this game. Heck, the entire stadium knew Ehlinger would have to run more. However, he beat an experienced secondary with his brain and his arm. It took him a bit more time to get going than Burrow, but when he did, he almost led his Longhorns to victory
Joe Burrow, on the other hand was magnificent. He had eight completions all night long and was great when it counted including putting a pass right on his top target Justin Jefferson late in the fourth quarter to seal the game.
