LSU football got a big win over Texas on Saturday night and catapulted itself into the playoff conversation. Time to overreact, big time.
The LSU Tigers walked into Saturday knowing they were playing the biggest game of the week and they delivered on a big-time scale against the Longhorns.
It came down to the wire and many fans were questioning whether the Tigers would pull this one off, even with a 20-7 halftime lead. Sam Ehlinger and the Longhorns fought hard and gave it their all, but it was the Tigers who came out on top and as a result moved into the No. 4 spot in the AP Top 25.
So now everyone is high on the LSU Tigers and has high hopes for them. What does that mean? It’s overreaction time.
3. The Tigers will make the College Football Playoff
The last three years, outside of Alabama, it has been the Georgia Bulldogs that were the likely to make the playoff. Now there’s another sheriff in town and it is the LSU Tigers.
They showed on Saturday against Texas that they could hang with one of the best offenses in the Big 12 and had some strong moments on the defensive side of the ball. They were the better team on the field on Saturday night and that showed on the scoreboard.
Now, the next step is to make the College Football Playoff and looking at the upcoming schedule for the Tigers, their biggest competitors are the Alabama Crimson Tide and honestly, I think they could lose that one and still make the playoff, depending on what else goes down.
That being said, this may be the year the Tigers take down the Tide and win the SEC. Only time will tell.
