Jimbo Fisher announced that Texas A&M football’s No. 1 running back Jashaun Corbin will be out for the season. Where do the Aggies go from here?

After leaving the game against Clemson with an undisclosed injury, sophomore Jashaun Corbin did not return, leaving many fans wondering about the running back’s health.

Worst fears were realized on Monday when Jimbo Fisher announced that Corbin would be out for the season due to a hamstring injury. That is a big loss for this Aggie team as the starting running back was poised to be a difference-maker for the offense. He joins Vernon Jackson on the injured back list for Texas A&M.

Now, we all ask, where do the Aggies go from here?

Well, it starts with Isaiah Spiller, the true freshman running back. You can hear quarterback Kellen Mond talk about him below. He has shown so far that he has the abilities necessary to get through the line and break tackles. In the first two games, Spiller has run for 130 yards on 14 carries. He also has two catches for 22 yards. He will be the starter against Lamar, at least.

Junior Jacob Kibodi will be back this week, as announced by Fisher. He hasn’t seen the field all that much in his two full years at A&M, but he is a veteran that knows the offense and that is going to mean quite a bit down the stretch. I believe Kibodi will be the second running back in line this season, meaning he may finally get his chance to shine.

Freshman Deneric Prince and sophomore Cordarrian Richardson offer depth at the position as well. Overall, the Aggies will be OK at the running back position for the remainder of the season, but they will surely miss Corbin and his speed at the position.
