Oklahoma has dominated yet again and it looks like the Sooners will be the team to beat all year in the Big 12 football power rankings.

Week 2 in the Big 12 is in the book, and we are heading toward conference play in the conference where everyone plays everyone. This is the last week of exclusive non-conference play. Week 4 officially begins conference play in the Big 12.

Unlike the first two weeks, we should learn a little bit more about how good the Big 12 is as they face significantly stiffer competition before they jump into their round robin format of conference play. The Big 12 schedulers did a good job of booking tough competition before conference play begins. Many teams are playing the second of their home-and-home series of games.

The Kansas State Wildcats travel to Starkville to play the Mississippi State Bulldogs in what should be an interesting game. TCU goes to Ross-Ade in West Lafayette to play the Purdue Boilermakers. The Cyclones renew a heated interstate rivalry when they attempt to reclaim the Cy-Hawk Trophy against the Iowa Hawkeyes in Ames.

Even Kansas travels to Chestnut Hill to play the Boston College Eagles. We will definitely know who many of these teams are heading into conference play after this week.

As for this week, there wasn’t much movement in the power rankings. Oklahoma State is the only team that moved from last week because are still in predictive mode. Expect to see some movement after this tough non-conference slate this weekend.

With all due respect to Barry Switzer and “hangin’ half a-hundred” on everyone, here’s the Big 12 power rankings for Week 1.
