3. Ohio at Marshall

This is a matchup of two of the top Group of Five football teams. Marshall has its eyes set on a Conference USA championship as it barely missed going to the title game last year. Marshall is coming off of a close loss to Boise State the previous week where their defense looked solid and kept them in the game.

However, their offense struggled as they only mustered out seven points. Marshall has a talented sophomore quarterback in Isaiah Green who has shown flashes of becoming the next great Marshall quarterback, but struggled mightily against Boise State as he only threw for 56 yards and an interception. Marshall is 1-1 heading into this game.

Ohio is potentially the best team in the MAC as they have their eyes set on a conference title, just like Marshall does. Ohio is coming off a 20-10 loss to Pittsburgh, but played tough and was in striking difference the whole game, just couldn’t cut into the lead. Ohio is led by quarterback Nathan Rourke who is a dual-threat guy and probably the best quarterback in the MAC. Like Marshall, Ohio is 1-1 as well.

Recapping reasons to watch the game

  • Two top Group of Five teams
  • Evenly matched teams with Marshall the favorite by 5.5 points
  • A top team in the MAC vs. a top team in the C-USA
  • Both coming off losses
