Penn State football hosts rival Pitt to conclude their non conference slate. Here are three reasons why the Nittany Lions beat the Panthers.

Penn State and Pitt meet for the 100th time in what will be the final game of the latest four year series. Pitt enters the game 1-1 whereas Penn State is 2-0.

There are some good story lines leading into this one between the historic rivals. Both teams will be bringing their A-games in hopes of winning what will be the last game in the series for the foreseeable future.

Pitt will try to even the current series at two a piece, but here are three reasons why Penn State will deny the Panthers and walk away victorious.

3. Penn State has the home-field advantage

Beaver Stadium is never an easy place to play for visiting teams. Saturday afternoon will be no different when Pitt visits.

Since the 2016 season, Penn State is 21-2 in the last 23 home games played at Beaver Stadium. The record includes two straight undefeated home slates in 2016 and 2017. Needless to say, the Lions do not lose at home often.

This game will not be a White Out but it will be a Stripe Out, which is becoming an annual tradition as well in Happy Valley. No matter if Pitt fans tell you this is a rivalry and many Penn State fans say it is not, the crowd will be a little extra juiced for kickoff.

While the series has not been continuous since 1992, it has been over 30 years since the Panthers won in State College, a 14-7 victory back in 1988. The drought on the road against the Lions will continue through the 100th meeting.
