3. Defense must remain consistent

This unit has been so good though the beginning of this young season. Against potential top-five draft pick Justin Herbert and Oregon, the Tigers only gave up 21 points in the victory. As the offense finds it rhythm and identity, it is the defense that shoulders the load on the plains.

They are led by Kevin Steele. Since his arrival at Auburn, the Tigers have fielded formidable defense, that have, at times, been among the best in the SEC. As the offenses have been on a roller coaster in recent seasons, it has been the defense that has kept things afloat.

That is again the case in 2019. Across the board, this defense is a productive unit. Nine players have registered tackles for loss, with Marlon Davidson and Jeremiah Dinson leading the way at two a piece.

As SEC play nears close, this defense will need to keep playing at such a high level. If they can do that, this offense should improve. Put those together, and the Tigers have serious potential.
