3. Virginia (-8) vs. Florida State

This is something that has never happened between Virginia and Florida State, the Cavilers are favored for the first time in 19 meetings. It is well deserved but eight points is a gift to the public.

Everything points to Virginia in this game. It’s a home game, Florida State is a team that could not stop UL-Monroe and Virginia is 2-0 against the spread and Florida State is 0-2 against the spread. All of those stats point to Virginia, but what about some numbers from the field.

Virginia has a stout run defense and the main focus point of the Seminoles’ offense is Cam Akers and the run game. Virginia has a senior quarterback who can beat you with the pass or with his legs, sounds  a bit like Hank Bachmeier who shredded the Seminoles in Week 1.

Virginia beat Pitt on the road by 16. Is Florida State that much better than Pitt to close an eight-point margin while in Charlottesville? I don’t think Florida State is that much better nor are they better at all. Virginia with eight points is free money that should hit and could be a big payday.
