Washington State Football: 3 bold predictions vs. Houston in Week 3
2. Anthony Gordon passes for 400 yards again
College football fans need to know the name Anthony Gordon now before he completely blows up on a national level. Although he may never reach Gardner Minshew status of stardom — he’s not as big of a personality — Gordon will still be in the spotlight as Washington State’s next elite passer. It’s just too bad he’s a senior already.
Being named the starting quarterback over Gage Gubrud was a surprise, but he has made the most of his opportunities, passing for 884 yards and nine touchdowns with an 81 percent completion rate and a QBR of 90.8 which is good for the sixth-best in the nation.
All of that success is going to continue against a Houston team that surrenders about 290 passing yards per game and allowed Jalen Hurts to account for 500 total yards in Week 1.
Gordon may not be the same type of player as Hurts, but he’s an accurate passer with a strong arm and he makes good decisions with the ball. He’ll find a way to carve up the Houston secondary for his third straight 400-yard game to start the season.
