College GameDay is headed to Ames for the first time ever as Iowa and Iowa State face off in a rivalry matchup. Who’s this week’s guest picker?

Can you believe it’s already Week 3 of the college football season? The first two weeks haven’t disappointed despite lacking big-time matchups and that won’t change on Saturday.

College GameDay is headed to Ames for the first time ever as this week’s game of the week is a rivalry between Iowa and Iowa State. The Cyclones have struggled in this rivalry while the Hawkeyes have been the “big brother” of sorts.

This season, there may be a new storyline as the Cyclones are poised to end that Hawkeye dominance and win the Cy-Hawk Trophy (creative name, right?).

GameDay will have all the talking points ahead of the game but everyone’s favorite segment — outside of Lee Corso’s headgear pick — has to be the guest picker. Each week has a different celebrity on board and this time around it’s country singer Eric Church.

Fans of both schools were displeased with the choice of Church as the guest picker because he has no ties to either and seems to be a “lazy” pick by the GameDay crew.

While Church may not be the most popular pick, he’ll surely draw interest from country music fans and it’ll be fun to watch just how knowledgable he is about football. Some celebrities surprise people with their college football smarts.

If you’re not a Church fan, don’t worry because Corso will make his headgear pick shortly after the guest picker segment. If you are a fan, well, you’re in luck.
