Arkansas State had no answers on Saturday afternoon in Athens as they fell in a shutout loss against Georgia football. What’d we learn?

It was an emotional day between the hedges, as Arkansas State came to Sanford Stadium to square off against the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs. Wendy Anderson, wife of Red Wolves head coach Blake Anderson, recently passed away from cancer. In tribute to Anderson’s wife, the Bulldogs faithful came out bedecked in pink throughout the stadium.

The display turned Anderson emotional, and his team came out ready to fight in the biggest statement opportunity on the 2019 schedule for the Red Wolves. Arkansas State was able to stall several Georgia drives in the first quarter, but by halftime the Bulldogs were already up 34-0. In the end, emotion alone wasn’t enough to carry Arkansas State to an upset.

The talent gap became all too clear as this contest progressed toward its conclusion. Kirby Smart’s squad showed why they are a College Football Playoff contender at this point of the year, doing exactly what was expected of them against an overmatched opponent as they shut out the Red Wolves 55-0 in the early Saturday slate in Week 3.

In games like this, it is always wise to err on the side of caution and avoid reading too much into the result. But there are still some worthwhile things we learned from the runaway victory by the Bulldogs against their Sun Belt counterpart. Here are the three things worth taking away from this blowout in Athens.
