1. Diverse Georgia ground game dominates by committee

What makes Georgia’s ground game so dangerous is the fact that no one player dominates the carries. Instead, the Bulldogs have a deep stable of backfield stars who can gash opposing defenses. Against Arkansas State, Georgia exhibited that depth as they platooned their way to 268 yards as a team on 33 carries. The group finished with four touchdowns on the ground as they repeatedly pummeled the Red Wolves on the ground.

D’Andre Swift nominally led the way with nine carries for 76 yards. He added a pair of receptions for 64 yards, including a 48-yard touchdown reception from Fromm in the second quarter. But while Swift showcased his versatility as the most veteran back in the rotation, he was not among the running backs who notched a score on the ground.

Instead, it was James Cook, Brian Herrien, Kenny McIntosh, and Zamir White who found their way into the endzone on a handoff. The trio combined for 161 yards and an average of 9.5 yards per carry, pummeling an Arkansas State defensive front seven that struggled to win the battles at the line of scrimmage.

At this point the rest of the SEC East needs to be on notice. While Georgia has dominated the division over the past few seasons, they could be even deeper this year than their recent vintages that played for the conference crown.
