North Carolina football lost a tough game to Wake Forest on Friday night? Did the resilient Tar Heels make a passing grade?

Mack Brown’s Tar Heels moved to 2-1 with a loss to Wake Forest on Friday night. It was the first true road game for North Carolina, and while it went down in the loss column, this was another extremely encouraging performance from the Tar Heels.

The Demon Deacons had a 21-0 lead at halftime, but Carolina wouldn’t lie down. They forced their way all the way to a 24-18 score, but in the end, they couldn’t finish the comeback.

For Brown, this is another sign of improvement. This North Carolina program had hit such a low prior to his arrival, and games like this show that the hire is working. Moral victories are often overrated, but in year one of a rebuild, they are vital. Moral victories in year one become real victories in the future.

Make no mistake, though, this team has a long way to go. Brown has to reshape this team, and as was displayed on Friday, he has to improve the interior of the Tar Heels.

In a great Friday night game, let’s see how the resilient Tar Heels graded out.
