Defensive Line: D

The line had trouble getting after the quarterback, and the Wake Forest offense dominated the line of scrimmage all night long. The Demon Deacons had a tremendous night when it came to rushing the ball, and that started up front. In total, Wake Forest compiled 222 rushing yards in Friday night’s contest.

Linebackers: C

The linebacking core had a pedestrian night against Wake Forest, but they weren’t given much to work with. In front of them, the defensive front was losing battle after battle. For the Tar Heel backers, so much of the night was spent cleaning up the mess in the run game. On both sides of the ball, North Carolina has the talent, but it is greatly hindered by poor line play.

Secondary: B

The secondary was responsible for keeping this game in striking distance on Friday night. It was the Myles Dorn interception of Jamie Newman that helped trigger the Tar Heel resurgence. Trey Morrison led the team in tackles with 12 on the game. Newman had some success through the air, but on Friday night, the North Carolina backfield the Heels in the game time and time again.
