Notre Dame football made short work of their visitors from New Mexico on Saturday afternoon in South Bend. What’d we learn?

On a sunny day in South Bend, No. 7 Notre Dame had no trouble with visiting Mountain West opponent New Mexico on Saturday afternoon in Week 3 action. The Fighting Irish pummeled their opponents, allowing just one garbage-time touchdown late in the first half and another late in the fourth quarter to miss out on the shutout against the Lobos.

All around, Brian Kelly and his staff — not to mention Notre Dame fans in South Bend and around the country — have to be happy with the way the Fighting Irish turned out in the 66-14 victory against New Mexico. There was little to complain about in this contest, though the coaching staff will surely find fine details to nitpick on Sunday when they hit the film.

But with the sun shining and Touchdown Jesus smiling, Notre Dame did everything necessary to ensure they remain in the top 10 when the new AP Top 25 is released on Sunday. With the Fighting Irish taking on an overmatched Mountain West lightweight, what can we actually take away from this blowout? Here are three lessons we learned on Saturday afternoon in Indiana.
