USC Football: 3 takeaways from devastating loss at BYU
1. Clay Helton is in trouble
For a coach that entered the season on the hot seat, this hasn’t been an ideal start to the season for Clay Helton. He lost hist starting quarterback for the season, and then the athletic director that served as one of his bigger supporters resigned.
Losing to an unranked BYU wasn’t the best way to follow that up on Saturday.
It doesn’t get easier from here. In the next three games, the Trojans will host Utah, and then travel to both Washington and Notre Dame.
There is a bye week in between the Washington and Notre Dame matchups. It is very possible that USC is 2-3 when they reach that point.
No matter what the future holds, the loss on Saturday didn’t help Helton whatsoever. If he can’t pull an upset in the next few weeks, things could take a quick turn downhill.
