There will be little movement at the top of the next AP Top 25… but there is bound to be lots of shifting in the bottom half of the poll ahead of Week 4.

All of the top nine teams from the AP Top 25 prevailed in Week 3, with only Florida winning by single digits among the bunch. Every other team blew out their competition, meaning there is likely going to be no movement in the top 10 this week. (No. 10 Michigan was on a bye week, making it unlikely the Wolverines will leapfrog the Gators.)

The bottom half of the poll, on the other hand, some some fascinating results across the board. Three teams that were ranked in last week’s AP Top 25 fell over the weekend to unranked opponents. No. 18 Michigan State collapsed 10-7 at home against Arizona State, No. 21 Maryland tumbled 20-15 on the road against Temple, and No. 24 USC collapsed in overtime 30-27 in Provo against BYU.

All three are projected to fall out of the Top 25 this week. Who will replace them, though, is an even bigger question after three of the top five teams among the others receiving votes collapsed in Week 3. Iowa State fell at home against No. 19 Iowa, Mississippi State was downed by Kansas State, and North Carolina faltered at Wake Forest.

With that in mind, several teams asserted their intention of breaking into the party. Given there are only 25 spots available, though, who did enough to take one of the openings in this week’s AP Poll? Keep reading for our latest projections of the Top 25 for Week 4 of the 2019 season.
