2. Micah Parsons will be All-Big Ten

Defensively Penn State had good and bad moments against Pitt. One Lion who had a masterful game was linebacker Micah Parsons.

Parsons did everything in his power to make sure the Lions came out on top against Pitt. He finished the game with nine total tackles, seven solo, two tackles for loss, a pass breakup and a quarterback hit.

Parsons seemed like a man possessed. He was all over the field and has tremendous speed to get to the edge. He is an extremely versatile player and if it were not for his play against Pitt, it’s likely the Lions lose.

It is well known now Parsons led Penn State in tackles a year ago while only making one start. This year the sophomore is picking up exactly where he left off. Last year’s performance earned him an honorable mention in the conference. With continued performances like this one against Pitt, Parsons will end up with first-team All-Big Ten honors and perhaps even more awards.

The former overall number seven recruit in the nation probably is not thinking about that right now. He and his defensive teammates know they need to clean up some things. But overall when you only allow 10 points, including a second half shutout and a goal line stand to save the game, it’s a good day for the defense.
