TCU football came out and revealed itself as a threat in the Big 12 this season. What did we learn from the Frogs’ standout Week 3 performance at Purdue?

With only a win over FCS Arkansas-Pine Bluff on their record, it was hard to gauge just where TCU stood among the ranks of potential college football dark horses as we entered Week 3 of the college football season. Gary Patterson’s team showed the country exactly who they are on their trip to West Lafayette, repeatedly knocking down Purdue for a decisive 34-13 road win in a Power Five intersectional battle.

It was an uneven effort on the offensive side of the ball, while the defense did exactly what one might expect of a group molded in the image of previous dominant Horned Frogs defenses. There is still plenty to work on for TCU as they prepare for a rivalry game ahead of conference play, but there is more good than bad to take away from the result in Big Ten country.

Big non-conference tilts offer plenty to evaluate, and TCU offered a ton of grist for the mill as they look to climb back into the AP Top 25 for the first time since last September. Here are key things to take away from the Horned Frogs rout of the Boilermakers.
