The Skinny

Chris Klieman has already begun working his magic at Kansas State, proving to be one of the nation’s best coaches regardless of level. The Wildcats look to be one of the nation’s most improved teams, earning a huge out-of-conference road win on Saturday in Starkville over Mississippi State. Most pundits projected Kansas State near the cellar of the Big 12, but now it’s fair to wonder whether the Wildcats could push for a spot in the conference title game opposite Oklahoma.

I give Utah a slight edge over Oregon at the moment in the Pac-12 race, but a few more impressive wins by the Ducks could change my mind. I picked Oregon to win the Pac-12 in the preseason, and the loss to Auburn in the season opener doesn’t really dampen my expectations for this team.

The Ducks could very well run the table from here on out, and with a neutral site loss to Auburn as the only stain on their resume, Oregon’s hopes for the College Football Playoff aren’t out the window yet either.
