While many matchups flew under the radar, this was another great weekend in college football. What did we learn from Week 3?

Week 3 didn’t feature a plethora of marquee games, but when it was all said and done, this slate of games came through in a big way. There were several tight finishes, some big upsets, and drama galore.

Here’s what we learned in Week 3.

5. Trevor Lawrence is still just OK

Clemson is going to dominate everyone on the schedule. That continues to be obvious. However, we won’t really know what this team is when the playoff gets here.

Trevor Lawrence wasn’t great in the first two weeks of the year. He was good, but he didn’t play like the elite quarterback everyone expected him to be. Against Syracuse, it was more of the same.

He completed 56.4 percent of his throws, and while he racked up 395 yards and three touchdowns, he also threw two interceptions. Lawrence played well, but once again, he wasn’t elite.

Until the Tigers hit the playoff, we won’t really know where Lawrence is at. Before that, he doesn’t face a tough defense.

Boston College looked like a decent matchup, but the Eagles just got dominated by Kansas. North Carolina has shown some fight early in the year, but that team still isn’t capable of hanging with Clemson. The Florida State game, for another year, looks set to be a mismatch.

The Tigers are obviously still elite, that’s not a question. However, when it comes to the the group at the very top of the sport, the margin of error is so small. Early in the year, Lawrence and Clemson have been a playoff team. They haven’t, however, looked like a team can beat Alabama by nearly 30.
