College football’s third week of action is in the books and some quarterbacks stood out. Who had the top quarterback performances in Week 3?
Below are the factors and requirements that go in to putting together this list, just like the previous week.
Stats of course go a long way, but we like to look at the film and see how it was they put up those numbers. If Quarterback A had three touchdowns that were all downfield throws or put into a small window, that would have more weight than if Quarterback B had four touchdowns all on screens or shuffle passes. The only requirement to make the list is that the quarterback’s opponent is not an FCS foe.
It doesn’t matter if it is a quarterback from the Power Five, Group of Five or Independent, we will do our best to put the top five performances of the week here.
5. Kaleb Barker, Troy
Kaleb Barker had one of the best quarterback performances of the weekend and despite his incredible efforts, Troy ended up on the losing side of things against Southern Miss which was ahead most of the game besides in the third quarter, but the Trojans would not go away and were always one strike away from taking the lead.
Barker’s play was unreal and if he played at a bigger school, he would be getting talked about the whole week by people in the media. I encourage any college football fan to go back and watch this game, as it was one of the best if not the best games of the weekend.
Barker was 29-for-43 throwing the ball with 504 yards passing to go along with four touchdowns. He distributed the ball to all his playmakers as Troy had four guys with at least 100 yards receiving. No. 4 and No. 5 on this list are interchangeable, in my opinion.
