Rivalries, upsets and one conference game highlighted Week 3 of Big Ten football. See who rose and who fell in this week’s power rankings.

Week 3 of the college football season was undoubtedly the most exciting for the Big Ten during this early part of the 2019 season. While Rutgers, Michigan and Maryland were all on byes, nine Big Ten schools played in non-conference match ups, while Ohio State defeated Indiana, decisively, in the lone conference game of the week.

It was not a good week for the Big Ten as the finished 5-4 in those non-conference games, with three of those five wins being determined by an average of just under four points. Iowa and Penn State squeaked out wins against in-state rivals, while Minnesota scored in the final seconds to beat Georgia Southern by a field goal.

Of the four losses, the two most notable were that of Maryland and Michigan State. The Terrapins scored just 17 points after scoring 79 and 63 points in their first two games. For the Spartans, they found themselves losers to Arizona State for the second straight year, with as dramatic as a finish you can get.

It was a great week for some Big Ten fans, while others buried their heads into their hands. So take a look at the updated power rankings for the Big Ten.
