The Tulane Green Wave stole a win away from Houston football in one of the most exciting Thursday night games we have ever seen.

This week’s Thursday night game was highlighted by two of the best American Athletic Conference teams. Dana Holgorsen’s Houston Cougars traveled to New Orleans to take on the Tulane Green Wave.

Coming into the game, the Cougars held a 1-2 record, however, their two losses came to two AP Top 25 teams, Oklahoma and Washington State. Tulane, on the other hand, entered the match 2-1, with their lone loss coming from an away game at Auburn.

At one point, Houston was leading 28-7. By halftime, Tulane closed the gap to 14 points. The Green Wave then went on a 21-0 second half run and eventually took the lead in the middle of the fourth quarter. Houston finally scored in the second half on a short field goal to tie the game, 31-31.

When Tulane got the ball back, with less than a minute left in the game, they faked taking a knee which turned into an 18 yard run. The very next play, with 12 seconds left on the clock, Tulane’s Justin McMillan connected with Jalen McCleskey for a 57-yard touchdown to win the game.

Let’s take a look at a few more takeaways from this incredibly exciting Thursday night game.
