2. College football’s favorite Australian punter

Over the last decade, there has been an increasing interest from college football programs to recruit punters from Australia. One of the early Australian punters who gained a great amount of attention from the nation was LSU’s Brad Wing from 2011-2012. There are currently four starting NFL players who reign from way down under.

Now, Dane Roy of the Houston Cougars, has stolen the Australian punting show. Roy stands at a massive 6-foot-7 and weighs 240 pounds. The 30 year old, who grew up playing Australian Rules Football, left his job as an ice cream salesman to pursue becoming an American football punter.

Roy showed off his massive leg on a 57-yard bomb that, had it not been stop at the goal-line by his own Houston teammate, would have gone for over 65 yards. He is averaging just under 46 yards per punt this season and will likely be heading to the NFL following the completion of this 2019 season.
