3. Ian Book will have a Heisman moment

I guess it’s hard to call it a Heisman moment if it happens in September, but I do expect Ian Book to have a big game against Georgia. With the early bye week in Week 2, he should be as fresh as possible.

Jafar Armstrong being out at running back really limits what this offense can do in terms of balance. What does that mean for Book? Mostly, it means that Brian Kelly has to ask more out of the star quarterback.

Book will be making plays with both his arm and his legs. Although many people think of him as just a pocket system quarterback, he is a sneaky scrambler. If you don’t keep an eye on him, he will break free for the first down.

I expect there to be some plays like that against Georgia. Between highlight plays and overall stats, I’m expecting Ian Book to have a Heisman performance. Will it be enough for Book to make it to New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony? Probably not. However, he will do everything he can for the Fighting Irish in this game.

It will take a lot for the Irish to upset Georgia and stay on track for the College Football Playoff. That doesn’t mean that Ian Book won’t do his part in this one. I expect big things.
