2. Notre Dame will use turnovers to keep this one close

Notre Dame can’t play the field position game against the Bulldogs and hope to come out with a win. It will take some big plays that change both the scoreboard and the momentum. A huge opportunity for the Fighting Irish is for them to get a couple of turnovers.

In two games this year, Notre Dame has only had one fumble. They’ve forced seven. Even though some of these were in garbage time and others were more errors by Louisville than anything else, that large of a turnover margin in just two games means something. When you compare it to what Georgia does, Notre Dame has reason to be optimistic.

Georgia’s turnover margin is only plus-1 so far in three games against inferior opponents. Some of their errors have been in garbage time as well, but they also aren’t known for forcing turnovers.

Notre Dame’s defense will be looking to take risks in this one, and I think some of them will pay off. While Georgia tries to play conservative, the Irish will probably force a couple of turnovers that give them field position and swing the momentum on the visiting team’s side.

Great performances by quarterbacks and defenses are both great things to get the fans excited, but it means nothing unless the Irish can pull off the upset. Can they get it done in Athens this Saturday?
