Utah football travels to the City of Angels to take on the USC Trojans at the Coliseum. Here’s why the Utes will beat USC on the road.

In the first marquee matchup of this weekend, the Utah Utes open their Pac-12 season on the road in Los Angeles taking on the USC Trojans at the LA Memorial Coliseum. The Utes, with arguable the most talented defense in the conference — and possibly the country — seek national respect.

The Trojans come into this game trying to redeem themselves after a 30-27 loss to the BYU Cougars in Provo. If Utah has the most talented defense in the Pac-12, the Trojans might have the best roster in the conference.

What do the Utes have to do to earn that respect, and come away with a road win? Here’s why the Utes will win

3. Utes will make Kedon Slovis look like a freshman

True freshman Kedon Slovis has been pretty good for the Trojans since stepping in for JT Daniels in the first game of the season. It’s obvious why he beat out Jack Sears and Chris Finke — two veterans in the program for the backup quarterback spot. This is Slovis’ toughest test, however.

Utah will use the blueprint from the BYU game, and apply it with better athletes. The Utes can sit back and play coverage because they can get pressure on Slovis with just their line; they don’t need to blitz.

Expect Utah to throw everything at Slovis since he will turn it over (four interceptions this season).
