3. Bo Nix must be more consistent

It’s the biggest headline of this game, and it’s the biggest variable that will exist in College Stateion on Saturday. Can Bo Nix, the true freshman, get better?

Through the first quarter of the season, he’s been rocky. He’s completed only 52.4 percent of his throws, and he’s thrown two picks in three games. He’s only had one game in which he’s completed better than 60 percent of his passes. In the one Power Five game, that number was at only 41.9.

The reason he has been so frustrating to watch at times, is because he has also shown so much potential. It’s knowing how good he could be, if he could only put his whole game together.

As a runner, he has a way to contribute and move the chains even when he isn’t throwing the ball well. He’s averaging 4.9 yards per carry, and the read option is once again a big part of this offense.

But through the air, Nix has been up and down. When he’s on, he’s on. He was on down the stretch against Oregon. However, they were only in a 21-6 hole because he had been down for most of that matchup.

Nix’s efficiency is the missing piece of the Tiger offense. The run game is good, and getting better. The outside if full of dynamic weapons. The line is playing well. If Bo can settle in, the sky is the limit on the plains.
